Hi to all

These arrived today.
The Anzac has a plate number on the left hand side?

re: new arrivals

Hi Horamakhet

Very nice commemorative stamps, the 2d Silver Jubilee stamps are well centred; the strip of 3 and the pair are exceptionally well centred. The Plate 1 2d 1935 ANZAC block of 4 is one of 4 plates made for the 2d.

The 1927 Opening of Parliament House stamps I'm particularly quite interested in.

re: new arrivals

Hi Rob

The Parliament House opening stamps are also very interesting, I tend to buy them if I see them, so these were a bonus, and they came with the 2d Anzac.

Now I am going to try and re-arrange my stock books, and put the stamps in the order according to the Brunsden-white specialized catalogues, which will take a long time.

I think I will do some serious culling of the family world collection to raise funds just for purchasing Australian pre-decimals.

I have finished moving my library, so now its just a matter of fine tuning.

I have set up a cabinet just to house my albums and stock books, and slowly I will sort the postally used stamps into specific reigns.

I was browsing through an old auction catalogue the other day, and it had a picture of the one shilling a three pence Hereford Bull. I said it was on thin paper.
I have to relocate the catalogue, and when I do I will send you a scan.

I sorted out the 4500 used stamps finally, and they have filled 14 containers each with 12 compartments, so now the long job of putting them into stock books

Reminder, to myself, stop taking up peoples offers to buy accumulations.

Regards

Franz

re: new arrivals

Hi Franz

I have all my collection in ACSC order, it is much easier to catalogue and if a stamp is found it can easily be added to the area it belongs (the only tedious bit is to move all the stamps after it along to make room and to keep the stamps in order).

Only the varieties are not in order they are in a separate album, until the monarch of the time.

The thin paper Hereford bull is mentioned in all the ACSC books, even the newest one; this stamp was made in 1948, that’s 72 years ago and not a single thin paper has ever been cited. Andy and I had come to a conclusion that there may not be a thin paper, if there ever was, one would surely have appeared in 72 years.

But then, in the off-chance if there is a thin paper, it would be worth a lot.

I wonder if you will keep to your reminder?

Rob

re: new arrivals

Hi Rob

What reminder, I am having a brain lapse. (LOL)

Sometimes I get distracted, and friends just want to get rid of their collections,
it is hard to say no.

Still have not found the auction catalogue with the thin Hereford. I was reading it the order day, when I was supposed to be moving books, so it is somewhere in the library.

While moving the Australia Antarctic Territory stamps from a container to a stock book, I found a colour shift of the 8d on 7d SG , will post a picture in the next couple of days.

At the moment I am sorting 4d Koala's into a stock book. , there a few, these are from the 4500 accumulation.

Regards

Franz
