Simple definition for Hi-Brite is "High Fluorescence"
It's not the "hibrite" that is the problem -- it is the "transparent".

Roy have you tried contacting Robin Harris, The Editor of the Unitrade Catalogue?
Do you have a copy of 568 or 569 Hibrite & 566 & 567 Hibrite stamps that you could make a comparison to determine if there is any difference?
Liz
Considering that the transparent hibrite is the only variety of 568, buy it & see how it differs from regular hibrite.
Odd that no mention was made of it in the introduction. This is the first time I've noticed the "transparent" descriptor! Thanks for bringing it up.

Isn't the transparent referring to the gum? That is to say Transparent gum, Hi brite paper. I don't think its very clear as presented in the catalogue but compare say the listing for 572, 573 which states HB, white gum.
I've collected Canada since 1972 and have a collection complete from #34 to my 1985 cutoff, excluding the Port Hood Provisionals! I collected the tagged stuff but absolutely refused to get hung up on all those crazy paper varieties. Unless you want to specialize in those stamps I would advise staying away from them, I gave it a shot and didn't enjoy it much! Your choice of course!
Has there been an answer to the question??
Unitrade catalogue list number 568 with a transparent HB variety. I cannot find any reference in the catalogue to what this is. Can anybody Define it?
