Unfortunately, a very crude forgery as 99.9% are
At least 30 variations of this value
Well, so much for size!
For the record, Scott states that full margins are 3mm. Anything less, and the catalog value drops by 65% to 75%.
Each value has several genuine characteristics but the easiest method is to check the angle through the center of the posthorn. I have maybe 70+ fakes and only 1 almost met the requirement.
I reckoned it was a forgery due to the originals being hand stamped but thanks to all I now know what to look for in the rest of the collection.
However I would still like to know the diameter
.
27 & 54 19 1/2 mm, 81 19 2/3 mm, 108 20 mm
The total # of originals of the 4 values to date 714 of which some 200 are in museums or private institutions
Genuine essays & proofs exist and not expensive
Reprints are basically forgeries made by the postmaster Gorjan and plentiful (below)
Also decent reprints made in 1958 & 1970
You find informations on "romanianstamps.ro" The articles translated in english.
Two more great sites about Romanian stamps, including forgeries:
https://casacudor.com/ This name has a great Romanian meaning.
http://www.romaniastamps.com/
Both have English translations.
May I ask you (please, no Romanian members) what is the meaning of "casacudor" ?
