As noted in the Scott Catalogue:
The originals, Scott #1K5-1K10, were overprinted "1945" in London were not issued. In 1950, they were sold by the Yugoslavian Government without postal validity. Later a plane overprint was added.
are they rare? Do you know how many of them were made with overprint?
Thanks for the info.
They show up in collections all the time, so no, they are not rare. I checked the Michel catalog for possible print quantities, but there was no information on that.
Just dropping in on this one:
Never issued for postal purposes with the 1945 overprint.
Then, the airplane overprint was added later? Why?
Who printed the airplane--the Jugoslav government or other?
Bruce

They are only what someone without ant philatelic knowledge would be willing to pay for them. To a knowledgeable collector, ZERO $
As AntoniusRa say - it is worth exactly sum that someone wish to pay.
BUT! As part-time dealer that spcialized in Yugoslavia, I can assure You, that demand for this issue are up, and it is lot of UP, as I have constantly request to supply this issue in basic set and with m/s format, same with overprint.
Reason is simple, Yugoslavia was demolished and finish to exist in 2006.
So, a lot of people/collectors, that have some stamps from this country (mostly 1970-80), wish to complete collection and one of most problematic issues are this one.
Problematic, I mean, to supply it in mnh condition.
Almost non exist on open market, and what we have, we have it in hinged but not complete set.
Basic set - as I know, is valued at 15-20.00 US$ at the moment, and with overprint "1945" and planes on red/black/gold can reach much-much more.
You can check this information on simple "search" option on eBay, and also on Facebook group YuRePabulic (Philately) discussion board.
Doing a "simple" ebay search is worthless. It does not denote value for an item. All it shows is what people are selling an item for. When doing "value" searches, you need to check the "sold" prices. Just because a seller prices something at $100 doesn't mean it is worth $100. What it is worth is what people are paying for it.
I did a "sold" search on Ebay. Two sets of 1K5-1K10 have sold recently. One for $6.15, and the other for $2.00.
Just for the record, a seller is selling the 1K5-1K10 set, plus the set with overprints for $9.95. Another seller is selling the overprinted set for $5.90. A third seller is selling 1K5-1K10 for $10.90.
Amazing, so much information at the fingertips.
What would be valuable would be a few validly cancelled
postally used examples. The trick would be proving "validity."
I know they are from Yugoslavia, at the end of WW2 they were exile I belive. I think they were printed in London. I may be wrong, any idea how common they are? I'm sorting a bunch of stamps. I may have more questions.
