How about "The World of Stamps"
First thing that popped into my head when I saw it was being held in a library.
Greenville Philatelic Exhibition, or GREENPEX. Most people won't have a clue what "philatelic" or "GREENPEX" mean, but I'm not sure that would matter. People who aren't interested in stamps wouldn't attend if you were to hand out free Penny Blacks. Stamp collectors will be there, though. How about advertising thus: "Visit GREENPEX, Greenville Stamp Club's Stamp Fair".
Bob
antique stamp road show.... what's that collection worth?
'
I had much the same thought as Webpaper, only as:
Greenville World of Stamps ?
Or,
Greenville Stampers a-Stampin' ... with an explanatory sub-headline.
Cheers,
/s/ ikeyPikey
I like David's idea. Advertise free appraisals for old stamp collections or accumulations of "antique" mail. The public would eat it up.
How about something like this:
"Discover the worlds greatest hobby at the first annual Greenville Stampathon"
Another easy thing you could do is set up a table with a computer or two with my website "The World of stamps" This would enable people to view all of the countries with which they might find interest in. Of course there is nothing for sale there so that should not be a conflict.
Some great ideas/suggestions here!
Please keep 'em coming!
I am going to be presenting your ideas - with credit given, of course -
to our club at our next business meeting on the 3rd of Aug.

Do you know of any dealers nearby who would come and set up a table ? That seems to draw a few outsiders to our yearly show. Start with one or two and see how it goes. Club members also pick up interesting items....
The Great Greenville Stamp Show and Tell.
Grenvilles own Stampede
Presented by Greenville Stamp Club
No need to rush we are here all day.
Freebies
Exhibits on various themes
Appraisals of your stamps and albums
Presentations, short and sweet.
Q & A Bring your stamp collecting queries and baffle our experts
Okay -
I'll be having a breakfast meeting in the A.M. tomorrow (Sat.)
with our club president and we will put the list together of all suggestions/ideas
and then they will be presented to the club at our next business meeting
for voting on. Our next business meeting is a week from Saturday.
I will let you know what the winning suggestion is!
Thank you all for your help - if you have any more ideas,
there is still time to post them!
UPDATE!!!
Our local club voted on the name for our upcoming show at the Flat River Public Library
here in Greenville, MI;
the winning title was, "GREENVILLE STAMP FAIR"
Here is an initial mockup of the flyer/handout we will be printing up -
Colors have not been decided as yet;
we will have NO sales of any kind, as this is not allowed at the library;
this will be our second 'Fair' - our first was at a much smaller town library.
Thanks to all who posted ideas/suggestions! We used a few!
Last suggestion: rework that flyer to include a bunch of images of stamps!
Roy
I am not sure "fair" conveys much about the content of the event. Given there are no sales, this is an information only event (no sales), this should be emphasized more. It is more like a show-and-tell.
If you want to test names or concepts, find people who do not collect and ask them what impression they get from the name and flyer. People who already collect are biased.
Good point, Roy.
My bit o'advise
Be sure that the presenters and exhibitors are geared towards the general public and new collectors. On the "What I Collect and Why" it would be best to have someone with general USA, general world, a topical or two... I wouldn't want to do my presentation on the 1902 Ben Franklin stamp there!
Same with the exhibitors. Make it light and visual.
Point taken - thanks, Tom!
Hi All,
Our local stamp club will be attempting our first ever stamp show/forum
at our local library in September.
We asked our club members to submit names or titles to call our "show"
to be put in and on our advertising for the event.
So far we have not had many ideas that sounded quite right.
I would like to know if any of our members here have any suggestions!
We could certainly use the assistance!
Details are;
club name: Greenville Stamp Club
We will be having 6 framed exhibits, a youth table with giveaways/handouts,
an appraisal booth/table, 4 short Powerpoint presentations (5-10 min. each)
on "What I Collect & Why" by club members,
and an Open Question & Answer Panel.
So far we have had only a few suggestions, as follows;
1) GSC Postal Stamp Exhibition
2) Grandpa's Stamps - What To Do
3) Greenville Stamp Club Stamp Fair
4) Greenville Stamp Club Expo
Any questions, please ask;
any ideas, please post!!
