First, pictures of the stamps in question are needed.
If the occupation stamps were local in nature, Scott generally doesn't list them. However, some are listed. Michel does list most, but not all, of them them in its Germany Specialized Catalog.
Sorry Michael, I still don't have a camera set up - soon, I hope! All I really need to know is whether these stamps should be filed under Russia or Germany. My guess is since the country of occupation was Germany that I should file them under Germany. The stamps have Scott code numbers so they must be recognized by Scott, but I would probably need a specialized catalog, probably German, in order to find them. The numbers are 13NB1, 13N16 and 11N1 - German numbers, but the Scott's International album doesn't go that far into the N codes. If I had a German specialized album they would probably be there. The N13 code is for Saxony and the N11 code is for Berlin. I really must get my new camera set up!!
Scott International pages for parts 1 through 3 are absent many stamps. Parts 4 and 5 are better, but still missing some stamps. After that it gets much better.
I use a Kodak Easyshare digital camera for almost all of the images I post. I wore a 2.5 MP camera out after many years of use, taking about 50,000 pictures with it. I found a 5 MP at a junk shop for $6.00, and a 3.2 MP camera (both Kodak Easyshare cameras) on the side of the road in a box of junk. The 3.2 MP is being held as a spare. The first camera I bought at a pawn shop for around $20 back in the day when it was almost new.
These are listed under Germany and found in both the basic and specialized Michel Germany
Sowjetische Besatzungszone- Bundesland Sachsen und Berlin
Soviet Occupation Zone - Saxony State & Berlin
You might also want to consider a scanner - probably better results than a hand held camera
Canon LIDE's can be found on sale for $50-$75
I have a few stamps for the Russian occupation of Saxony and also Berlin and can't seem to find them in Scott's. I know numbers ( 13N and 11N codes )and approximate values, that's not the problem. They are not in Scott's international album under either Russia or Germany. I am a Russian collector ( up to 1985 ) and struggle with the Russia BoB section as I'm sure most Russian collectors do. Should I file these stamps and any others I might find under Russia or Germany? It seems that German occupation of Russia is filed under Russia where Russian occupation of Germany is filed under Germany - in other words I think I should go with the geographic country rather than the occupier. Do I have this right?
