Hi Pooh
I think this is how it goes
Die one on the left hand side, just above One Penny, has a broken frame, which extends into the white part of the border
Die two has an unbroken frame in the same area.
If you find a pair with Die I and Die II joined together, then they are quite rare and valuable.
The broken frame is quite easy to see if you have a good magnifying glass or a Jewellers loupe.
One you have identified it, you will always recognize it straight away
The one you have looks like die II

Thankyou for this and it also has a inverted watermark, any information about this??
Is this Die 1 as the frame is broken at O. I only did the corner of the stamp as this is where I'm asking about
This one with the black over it I used a torch and couldn't see any frame break at all. I kept looking at it with a torch for a few times and couldn't see a frame break and I also used a magnifying glass also
I will try and get some clearer pictures. I'm just trying to find out and learn which ones are die 1 and die 2.
Here is one of them The arrow is pointing to the break in the frame. I have used a magnifying glass and a torch a few times to see the break in the frame. So I'm only learning is this DIE 1
I have used a torch and magnifying glass a few times and can't see a break in the frame. Is this DIE 2 I'm lucky the black isn't heavy Is this the only way to find out what is DIE 1 and DIE 2?
Hi Pooh
Attached is a scan of two Die one Penny red Roos
Hope this helps
The last two show close ups of the frame break in DIE I, the bottom scan is better, because it is not hidden by the postmark
Just look at the white line above the O in One, and follow the line to the left frame, the inner white frame is broken the red outside frame is intact.
