Hi to all

This is a very confusing subject, particularly for me
These three stamps, the one in the middle which has an inverted watermark, and I have posted previously

How do I determine if it is a line or comb perf. I have placed a stamp either side which to me could, maybe are line perfs.

The one in the centre the perfs are very jagged, so I am thinking perhaps comb perfs, or are they all line perfs, or all comb perfs.

Any help is appreciated.

re: LINE PERF OR COMB PERF

At first glance, they all appear to be comb perf, but the outer two have torn corners. The middle one has some rough perfs, so it could be a line perf. I am not sure about it.
Stamps that were line perfed used a machine that cut the perfs one row at a time. It resulted in corners that tend to have perfs at some corners that were out of line. Comb perf stamps were cut three sides at once, so the corner perfs tend to be more uniform. To really tell you need to see some blocks. Then it becomes more obvious.See the attached info sheet from my website that I created to help explain things.

re: LINE PERF OR COMB PERF

Hi KGVistamps and linus

Thanks for the information.

I think that I remember someone posting on this forum that the 1d violet KGV is a line perf, and if I line it up with the perfs on that it will show what is a line perf or a comb perf, but I don't remember how long ago it was.

I want to find a way to definitively tell me, as I do not want to send stamps out for expensive valuations.

If one of the those three stamps pictured, is a line perf, it could prove to be an interesting find.

A little of the wording is missing but I think you get the general idea
