On August 28, in Chimarra, stocks of Greek stamps from 1911 and 1913 were overprinted with ???????? 1914 ???????? (Greek Chimarra 1914). This set exists both with and without the letters "??" (for S. Spyromilios) in manuscript.
I did find the above statement during a Google search but am unsure in what country the stamps should appear in the catalog. Epirus?
Hmm, maybe I have found them as Epirus Scott #'s 34-41. Any good way to determine whether they are genuine by observation?
Here are a few other items from the same page in the album.
The set of 15 (with an additional 10d) is Epirus Scott #42-56.
The white stamps with the double-headed eagle are of private origin. Those and a few others are illustrated in a footnote box following Epirus #56.
The overprinted Greek stamps, you are correct on the catalog number. Scott warns that counterfeits are plentiful, however. Based on the image of the overprint in Scott, I would say that the stamps you have are counterfeits.
Found these in an old International album but the Scott listings for Greece indicate an overprint date of 1922 not 1914. What are these?
