Here's a message I just sent to Amos Press today after receiving an order of a Scott international part 1A..

'Hello, order arrived today, I have a question.

Have you heard from other customers about how Amos Publications appears to have changed the paper stock for your album pages? The pages you sent in this order are yellow, not the cream color that would match other pages in this series. The quality of printing is also poor, illustrations are murky and faded.

A set of specialty pages for Russia I bought last month was also noticeably tinted differently than others I have had in the past but the international pages in this order are strikingly tinted yellow. Have you had any feedback from Amos on this issue with other customers?'

These pages look like they got run off at Kinko's. They are just ugly. What's going on? '

Is it me or has anyone else seen this?

re: Scott Album Pages, What's with the Poor Quality?

It's been like this for several years. As they have gone to printing on demand (which is a joke the way that they do it), all the pages that they no longer have in stock get printed like that now. The newest parts have, like I said, been printed on that ivory paper for several years. The paper color actually matches the paper color that I use when I print Steiner pages, so it doesn't really bother me.

As far as the print quality is concerned, I have seen it worse in the past. On the earlier page sets, it seems today that they are printing copies of a copy. The new supplements are not that bad as they appear to be digital. With 53 parts now, and all the other album pages, I don't think they have the time to go back and re-do the older page sets. I will make major changes to those albums when I buy Scott.

That is great idea for a thread; what we'd do if we bought Scott - or Gibbons.

That is a good description of what my pages look like; copies of copies. I can't imagine why this issue exits, surely they are printing to demand by use of stored images of their pages. I plan to reach out to Amos next week before I use these.

I am sure with no restrictions there is limit that could done but usually money (revenue and costs) drive their decisions. I would be interested in the response you get.
