Da sie jetz unsere schöne
Stadt verlassen haben
wünsch ich das Sie
ihre heimath glücklich
erreichen. Ich wurde
noch oft an die schöne
unterhaltungen denken
So sende ich ihnen
noch einen freundschaft-
lichen gruss und ein herzlichen
?. F ?


Which translates into :

? 11/10/1899
Dear woman,
Since you have now left our beautiful city,
I wish you to reach your home happily.
I was often touched by the beautiful conversations.
So I send you a friendly greeting and a warm ?
F ?

P.S.
The card says :
In memory of the visit
his majesty the emperor of Russia
in Potsdam in November 1899

Just one remark: Sr. Maj. des Kaisers von Russland does not mean the emperor's sergeant-major. It is an abbreviation for Seiner Majestät des Kaisers von Russland, which just means "his majesty the emperor of Russia"

Heres a better man than the cousins...my Grandfather a humble peasant that had to fight for his life from 1915-18 in the East and in the Dolomites. when the royals squabble send in the cannon fodder .Image Not Found
