Once again, thanks Vic!
Yes, Vince,
I am truly excited to be involved with this group (still doesn't have an official name)!
There are some true titans in the postal history world who are members of this group, and it is great to have access to their expertise! I am also excited about becoming an exhibitor, something I have shied away from...until now. And, I learned that there is at least one other member who has the same response as I do, in that regard. There are other members to mentor who have vast experience in exhibiting.
Bill envisions the group will collectively publish about 4 articles a year. Two of the members are organizers for bourses coming up in April (Delpex-John and Lancopex-Charles). John mentioned that they are still looking for exhibitors for Delpex. Bill also expressed a strong desire that the group grow in size.
-Paul
"The Philatelic Gathering" had our second gathering at The Chester County Historical Society yesterday and Paul (Pigdoc) was the main speaker. He gave a very nice talk on "Early Aviation On Postcards". There was also some discussion on exhibiting. We have a few Philatelic judges among our members and some of the top exhibitors.
This is a three year experiment but there is much enthusiasm I see it continuing for many more years. We have a great relationship with the Chester County Historical Society which graciously offered us the meeting space.
I plan on giving a talk at our last meeting this year on November 16th on my Santa Clause Postcard collection to kick off the Holidays.

I'm sorry I missed that meeting! I wanted to hear Paul's talk! But Saturday I was the big model car show I run every year. I will be speaking at the next meeting! Guess what subject? LOL
I want to announce a new "Club" that has formed in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Our mission statement is “TO SHARE OUR LOVE OF PHILATELY WITH OTHERS”.
It is the idea of Bill Schultz, and area collector, Philatelic Chief Judge, award winning Exhibitor & Historian.
Paul (pigdoc) and I have the privilege of being charter members of this group.
With Bill's success with "You Got Mail" series held at the Chester County Historical Society (CCHS) in 2017 & 2018 which was a great tie in for Philately & History and attracted some interesting lectures on Postal History. Bill was able to search The CCHS archives for many Philatelic items in storage and help have a multi room exhibit.
Bill wants to continue the learning experience and fellowship that started with "You Got Mail".
This will not be a club in the traditional sense. There are enough of them in the area that are successful. This will focus on Postal history. There will be nine meetings a year for the next three years to be held at The CCHS, room size to be determined by the number of members/visitors and availability at the CCHS.
There are eighteen charter members and we all have have various specialties in Philately and History. There is not a set program at the moment, each of the members will take turns on chairing the meetings. It will be two hours of lecture, exhibits, show and tell. Each chairperson with set their own agenda for the meeting. We have four exhibit frames for our use.
Here is a list of members and and some of their specialties or liaison with different groups.
Al Kaufmann - American History
Mark Schwartz - American Philatelic Society & British/Colonial Postal History
David Dewsnap - Stamp Collecting
Alan Warren - Editorial & First Day Covers; AFDCS & Polar Society
