Registration is not available to USA -- if signature is required Xpresspost must be used. If only tracking is desired, you may use Expedited Parcel or Tracked Packet (under 1,000 gm)

It looks like they were bumping you up to the 100gm-200gm category.

THANKS FOR THE QUICK RESPONSES.I APPRECIATE THE ASSISTANCE.
Not sure but I'm given to understand that retail outlets other than Post offices can charge extra, over and above the published rates.
Have you taken the items to an actual Canada Post office and compared prices?
I believe the postal costs at the outlets and main post offices are one and the same. Some times the outlets sell the booklets of P stamps at 10% off but the sale is always transacted at the store cash register and never at the postal outlet register.
Folks:
The RPOs (Retail Postal Outlets) in drug stores, etc. are supposed to charge the same rate as the regular Canada Post Offices. They try and screw you by bumping you up to the next level.
Solution: Purchase a postal scale. Weight your own letters and apply the correct postage. Drop it in a street letter box.
If you really want to give it to Canada Post, purchase older postage at a discount. PM Roy (in this thread) for details, as he sells it.
Cheers!

Good advice from David, no matter which country you live in.
I am having difficulty accessing the Canada Post website to obtain new postal rate increases.I am most interested in obtaining the 50-100g rate for Canada,USA and International. My local drug store post office gave me some numbers which I hope are not correct as they represent a 100% price increase i.e. Canada 1.80 to 3.12,USA 2.95 to 5.45 and international 5.90 to 10.90 these are quotes for 50-100g.If anyone can give me some straight info,I would appreciate it.
