What happened to my post answering the same question listed in the Middle East section?
At least rr and I provided the same answer!
It was a duplicate post, so it was removed.
It's not a big deal for me Michael but I had already replied to the post that was deleted.
The duplicate was posted in the wrong topic, so this one prevailed as it is in the correct one. Sorry for the confusion.
I seem to missing finding these 2 stamps. The overprints I can see except with an additional overprint on the overprint (Like Scott # 331 and 338).
I would appreciate any help in finding the catalog numbers.
Doug
Hi Doug,
These two are Scott #331 and #B15.
Scott #336-#339 have the additional "B" overprint as shown in the illustration immediately after #335.
You're welcome.
Yes, I agree.
The structure of the Scott listing for these issues has a certain logic but it can be very confusing when you first look at it and there have been a lot of discussions about this problem before, both here and on other boards.
Hi Doug,
The second stamp is an early Saudi stamp from the Kingdom of Hejaz-Nejd.
This is Scott Saudi Arabia #100 from 1926.
The third stamp is Liannos Local Post Constantinople, from 1865. However, it is most likely to be a forgery
The first stamp is Scott Turkey #B8 from 1916.
The last stamp is from the Ankara Government, Scott Turkey in Asia #82 from 1922.
Egypt revenue
Further to the revenue ---
Part of 1939-49 First Egyptian Tax Issues
Inscribed damgha masriya (Egyptian Tax) in center
I have huge respect for people who collect these areas and countries. I have an envelope labeled G.O.K. ( think! ) that has several from these areas. I prefer to find them myself ( I'm weird like that ) but it is very difficult! Good luck all you collectors of these types of stamps!
Can anyone help me identify this surcharged Turkey stamp?
