I am not able to answer your questions, however, this is a scan of what is probably their first cachet, Scott's #1731, cachet by Western Silk.

Western Silk FDCs #1 - #117 and Event covers #A-1 - #A23, 140 different designs, are the only ones I know about. Does anybody know about any others? A search of all 477 1955-to-date FIRST DAYS PDF issues found that Western Silk has never been written up in this AFDCS Journal. This Torrance, CA firm placed the ad pictured in only two issues in 1978. Who designed and produced these cachets is unknown. They are not mentioned in the 1995-1996 final edition of the Colorano Catalog, so it is unlikely that the producer had any connection to Ray Novak and Colorano. Their First Cachet, #1731 -- 1-06-1978, is pictured in the above 2019 post. Their Last Cachet, #C98 -- 10-13-1980, and one Event cover, #A18, are pictured here. All 140 known Western Silk Cachets are displayed on my page:

Does anyone know the history of this producer? Colorano has been researched in depth, wondering if Western has also been done?
