Craig is still on holidays, but I've been working on some things over the holidays as I have been back and forth attending to my father.

1) Our Website

Thanks again to our beloved "Roy" for setting up the initial website and hosting the content on his server! He has been very generous, both to this project and to SOR in general.

I finally got my daughter to sit down with me and expand the content. Unfortunately, she used my own arguments against me, saying "remember whenever I asked you for help with my homework/projects, you always used the parable 'fish for a man and he will eat for a day - teach him how to fish and he will eat for a lifetime'? "Well, I'll teach you how a website is built in the background, and you can experiment with the structure and add content on your own". Darn smart-aleck kids...

But here is the new "Under Development" version, replacing the "Coming Soon" placeholder. I will start to add content and structure as time permits, and provide updates here when I have made some semi-significant progress.

Please take a look and browse through the site and various tabs (very rudimentary right now) and give me some feedback (good, bad or hopefully not ugly).

This will be the basis of a major "re-launch" and ongoing communication strategy for the project.

2) U.S. Mail-Drop

When Craig gets back to work on January 7th I'll ask him to prioritize implementing this.

3) January/February Sales Campaign

The project does not solicit cash as we are a Canadian private not-for-profit, and can't issue tax receipts (nor afford the legal and accounting costs). And our policy is to not sell donated stamps unless specifically instructed that this is acceptable by the donor (two people have done so, although we haven't made any such sales so far).

At the same time, there are certain expenses that I am covering myself (e.g.bins to hold the stamp donations, postage costs, US mail-drop fees, and buying greeting cards created from the stamp-collages of the original Holocaust Stamps Project to send as thank-you cards to donors on Holocaust Remembrance Day each January 27th).

So, starting in early January, and continuing until the end of February, I am going to create some Auctions/Approvals from my own "hoard" with all proceeds (net of postage costs and PayPal fees) being used to cover some of these costs.

I am going to see if I can create a separate PayPal account from my personal "lemaven" account, to specifically receive and distribute these funds, but have a question: Does anyone see a potential objection to buyers using the PayPal "Friends & Family" payment option, rather than "Paying an Invoice"? This would be exempt from their fees, which I recently calculated could be as high as 12% on purchases less than $5.00 !

Many thanks for your feedback on these initiatives.

Dave.
