Hi to all,

This is the South Australian study that the previous owner was working on.

It is impressive.

Should I remove them from these cards and then re-write the information of leave them on these cards?

Regards

Horamakhet

re: SOUTH AUSTRALIA STUDIES

Hi Horamakhet

That is an impressive research collection of SA stamps, I estimate that the collection is worth somewhere between $600-$700 minimum (no bull). I am continuing with the research of the 1938-56 ½d kangaroo that started in 1952 (nearly 4,000 stamps).

I'll give you some sound advice regarding this very important collection, if there is discolouration showing on the page try and remove the stamps without damaging them (do not remove any hinges that refuse to peel off easily and gently, if not, leave the hinge on), or just leave all the stamps on the paper and buy some large plastic leaves to house them.

I had to buy a few albums to house the kangaroos as some sheets had 360-640 stamps (I had to buy an A3 size album and even that was too small for the 640 stamp sheet).

Or buy some white cardboard and hingeless mounts, write onto the cardboard what it says on the old backing sheet and place the stamps in the same order and fit the cardboard in a full size page (used for stamp sheets etc) and fit them into an album you have, you may need to cut the cardboard to size, I'd do that before placing the stamps on.

re: SOUTH AUSTRALIA STUDIES

Hi Rob

Thanks for the very sound advice.

The collection is impressive.

Also there a few packets of Victorian State Definitives as well.
I am supposing that the original owner was going to do the same with the Victorian stamps.

I will check through those packets at a later date.

The South Australian pages have the old glassine type protector on each page as well, but the pages they are on looks ok, but I think I will need to put them in archive type pockets.

regards

Horamakhet.
