Just checking to see if any members collect Walter Crosby covers. I have one (patriotic cover and 1 Royal Tour 1939 cover). I am looking for information on the creator, the process of the photo insert on covers., and any other type of cover he produced. Anyone else collect Crosby covers ? Please share

Hi Cheryl,
I do not collect them, but ran across this one a few years ago; I held on to it because it was late and has a color photo. I had not seen other Crosby covers with color photos before.

If you would like this cover, let me know and I can send it to you.

That is an interesting cover.
The USS Brooklyn, (CL-40) was then attached to the Pacific Fleet and attending the opening of the Golden Gate International Exposition in San Francisco Bay, February to September 1940. Brooklyn was one of the early "Tinclad" cruisers to survive WW II. She took part in both Atlantic and Pacific campaigns.
I do like this cover for its histrc connections.
After WW II she was sold (given) to a South American Country.

I only actively seek covers that Crosby did for the Iwo Jima stamp issued in 1945. Nine different cachets of his are listed in Mellone's for that issue (I have 7). Five of his Iwo cachets have photos.

The Universal Ship Cancellation Society has a bio on Crosby on its website.
