Canton ( County/state ) of Basel-Stadt, not to be confused with Basel-Landschaft which is somewhere else altogether.
Switzerland, like the U.S.A., is a federation, so the individual states have more revenue-raising powers than in a unitary country, and hence there is more scope for state revenues.
