What identifying are you wanting?
the i.d. I am looking for are Scott numbers, though I can see that would be very difficult as there are quite a few varieties of both stamps.
Not difficult at all. Based on the date on the covers, there is only one choice for each of the stamps, although the images are not clear enough for identification from other aspects.
The blue cover appears to carry an imperforate stamp. There is only one choice: #3
The white cover carries a perforated 1d stamp. Based on the 1854 date, it can only be #8 (perf 16 on bluish paper). The other varieties of this stamp were all issued in 1855 or later (according to Scott).

Thank you sir! Much obliged for the info. It seems strange that the blue cover has two postmarks on the back, one 1831 and one 1851. I thought the first postage stamp was issued in 1840.

They are both "51". The red postmark is doubled, making the 5 look like a 3. It is most noticeable on the "7" of Jun 7. Note both postmarks are the same day.

How can you identify these two penny reds without having the option of watermarking them as they are on cover. Maybe someone can recognize them.
