Sales, Swaps, Auction & Approvals/Auction Disc. : Would it be helpful to evaluate sellers as is possible on eBay?

Six weeks ago I purchased stamps on Stamporama. Received numerous excuses as to why they had not shipped after I sent payment to the seller. When I sent an email requesting an explanation instead of an excuse I offended the seller and he replied with a very long list of more excuses and accusations including an insinuation that I had gotten the stamps and wanted my money back in spite of receiving them. I was even called names by this seller.

If we had a way of honestly rating sellers we could discourage such behaviors. Does anyone have any ideas about remedies

"Does anyone have any ideas about remedies"

If all buyers and all sellers used a feedback system for every sale and every purchase, and if every seller and every buyer used it the correct way, such a system might work. However, feedback on ebay is often sketchy and inaccurate as sellers and buyers retaliate against each other by not leaving feedback, or incorrect feedback. (Ebay further stacked the deck when it prevented sellers from leaving negative feedback for buyers.)

On Stamporama, if you have a problem, contact the Auctioneer for assistance. There's no need for any seller or buyer to have to beat their heads into the wall in order to get payment or their merchandise. Make attempts to contact the buyer/seller. No response, file a dispute with the Auctioneer. Also, for buyers who used PayPal for payment, file a non-receipt dispute there as well. You will either get what you paid for, or get your money back.

People using the sales platforms on Stamporama are expected to use them appropriately and correctly. Appropriate action is taken against those who do not. A feedback system that is inherently wrought with problems is not needed here.

The rules to the various sales platforms should be read prior to using the platforms. It would save everyone plenty of aggravation.

re: Would it be helpful to evaluate sellers as is possible on eBay?

I’m new to Stamporama and your response is very helpful! Obviously I have limited experience with how things work or should work. Your help is far different from what I received from the seller. Thanks for your help, patience, and nonjudgmental assistance. I was ready to give up on Stamporama but am having second thoughts. Also, thanks for your insights re Ebay and the difference between Stamporama and Ebay. Pastorstamper

@pastorstamper, this site is first and doremost a club of like-minded enthusiasts. It is not an e-commerce site beholden to eithet buyers or sellers. As such, you can be sure that site administrators are concerned only with what is right and proper, and they will address any mis-conduct of members.

Cheers,

Ted

as the former auctioneer here, I can tell you that your comments sent to the auctioneer help him do his job and protect the other members from bad experience. We get a couple of complaints about the same guy and, if not rectified and stopped, that guy is gone.

there is no need for a feeback system here; if the guy isn't doiing it right, he's not doing it here for long.
