They have been selling the 'pages only' for the last 5 years.

It makes sense Bob, the 2018 and on catalogs are just out of the reach of most collectors. Most of the stamps i am interested in are in my 2012 scott catalogs...but like you say, why carry the "wallpaper" of the last 50 years that i have little or no interest in, around in the catalogs ?
I have ordered from Chirokmd.com and happy to get what I wanted. Like you, mine are in protective pages so easy to work with. I do not have a complete set of Scott catalogues but do have the Classic and several older versions. M
I do not collect anything except US after around 1980 so older books will do. The prices cannot be changing that much.
I see some make a business getting copies from Libraries and resell them on ebay.
" The company has an interesting business model, based on buying complete sets of new Scott catalogs, taking them apart, and selling the pages for individual countries or stamp-issuing entities."
My catalogues are decades old and a new set is just out of price range for me. I happily discovered that my local library carries them and updates every year. My own city library has them in the reference section, where you can't check out, but there are also a couple of branches in the system that will allow check-out and will inter-branch to my city.
I have also purchased country pages from Chirokmd over the last few years. They give excellent service.
StampWrangler Checkout Amazon for newer Scott catalogs. You can get 2016 and 2017 used catalogs for around $16.00. It's the cheapest I've found anywhere. Spread out over a few months makes them pretty affordable. My favorite it the Classic Specialized, it covers the world 1840-1940 it covers most of what I need and rarely have to drag out the other volumes
It is however more expensive and hardbound.
Most of my catalogs are 2012 (my specialized US is 2007..but I don't collect US)...and my Y & T and Michel are usually older than my Scott!
When I am actively working on an area of great interest to me, and I want the latest price info for reference, I will pick up Chirokmd's pages...usually buying what he labels as an "incomplete set", because he must truncate some of the sets due to overlap, and the "incomplete" sets (missing one page..the first or the last of a country pages) is much cheaper and totally adequate for my needs. You can also buy the 2018 pages (what he still has in inventory) at a discount when he starts with the next volume of Scott..in this case 2019. Service has been stellar, shipping very fast, and prices unbeatable, especially for countries with lots of pages for the many stamps issued. For those countries that have just one or a few pages in the catalog, his prices are high, and I will just rely on the stamp club loaner we buy every few years, and can check it out for a few weeks.
Unless you really need a full catalog, I find it the best way to go, and highly recommend him. Buy from his website rather than through ebay for an additional 10% off.
I too will put the pages in sheet protectors in the front of my albums, so in some ways the album are self contained. If my country collection requires more than one album, I will split the pages between the two, or more.

I've just ordered sets of 2019 Scott catalogue pages from www.chirokmd.com for Australian States, Algeria, and Ireland. The company has an interesting business model, based on buying complete sets of new Scott catalogues, taking them apart, and selling the pages for individual countries or stamp-issuing entities.
I have a complete set of Scott catalogues, but they're now five years out of date, and I hate using them because they are so damned heavy and unwieldy. It's not just that the books are heavy and unwieldy, though; I have both osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, and my hands not only don't work all that well but they hurt just with the effort of removing the catalogues from the bookcase and thumbing through them to find the pages I need. So I buy the Chirokmd.com sets of pages, put them in sheet protectors, put the sheet protectors in binders, and voila — catalogue pages that are actually inviting to use!
The company's prices seem eminently reasonable to me, and their service is great.
I've wondered if our sponsor, Roy Lingen, gave Chirokmd.com their idea; if I recall correctly, he offered a similar service early in his Cover Box business.
