With all the checking of mail that customs ,boarder protection and the relevant postal authorities do ,it's a wonder mail gets delivered at all .
I had some stamps from the US held up in Bio security several others opened for inspection.
Australia Post took six weeks to deliver a letter to Victoria which is next door to South Australia.
Just be patience

Did the seller provide you with a tracking number? If so, check it out as to where the parcel is.
Where does the seller live? You live in Canada. If the seller is in the USA or another country, common sense says that you aren't going to get the item in a week unless you paid for express mail. Four to six weeks is a normal time frame to wait for delivery of international mail. Be reasonable in your expectations.
How about contacting the seller, but don't be a pain in the butt about it, especially if you were not provided with a tracking number to see if it has been shipped. I know buyers who contact a seller the next day after they paid wondering why the item hadn't been mailed yet. The estimated delivery date is just that, an estimate. Sellers are people too. Sometimes things happen in their lives that requires immediate attention.
There is plenty of time to deal with it if you find out there is a problem. Read the rules on ebay and PayPal (if you paid through PayPal) to find out more.

I see that your are also in Canada. Unfortunately Canada Post handling of mail from most foreign sources is extremely variable. I have had international items from Europe and elsewhere arrive on my doorstep within days, and yet other items seem to take forever.
The first few months of this year were especially bad. Registered mail could be tracked to its arrival in Canada 2 to 3 days after being posted, but would then be held up by Canada Post for 2 to 3 months. Mail from the US was not as badly affected, I believe that is because it is processed via a different sorting office to other international mail.
Fortunately it seems to have improved over the last few weeks, but is still variable. I wait at least 3 weeks before contacting the seller.

The stuff is coming from Europe and I am in Canada. So it seems logical that it might be a bit delayed. I am so used to dealing with Amazon (usually things arrive early) that I expected this to be spot on as well.
Thanks everyone.
Neither Ebay nor anyone else can even venture a guess as to the time required to clear through customs.
I contacted the seller and explained (not complained) and they gave me the necessary information to do the tracking. I suspect that this is a customs issue, but at least everyone is aware of the problem and I will keep on it.
Thanks for your advice everyone.
I am wondering what is an acceptable time to wait for an order from ebay. The estimated delivery time was one week ago. I don't want to overreact, but I also don't want to be too late in dealing with it if is a problem.
Any thoughts from experienced ebay buyers?
