re: MONSERRAT WORLD SOCCER CUP 1986 SET

This was apparently an unissued set of stamps. It is mentioned towards the bottom of this page:

re: MONSERRAT WORLD SOCCER CUP 1986 SET

Thank you Jill for precisions and link.
On the document it is mentioned that the Scott & Gibbons ctalogues have listed this set, may I ask SOR members to give me more details regarding this set catalogue N° value, worth etc.. any information on it are welcome.
Would it be possible for this serie to know fake in circulation?

Many thanks for all the help

re: MONSERRAT WORLD SOCCER CUP 1986 SET

In the Scott 2017 volume 4, which contains Montserrat, it states, between the last listing of 1985 and before the first listing of 1986:

"A set of 8 stamps for the 1986 World Cup was printed but not issued. Stamps became available with the liquidation of the printer."

They don't give any catalog numbers or values.

I hope that's a little bit helpful (even though that's not much information).

re: MONSERRAT WORLD SOCCER CUP 1986 SET

There is also a mention in the Michel volume for the Caribbean Islands (vol 2, K-Z).

After a 1987 listing for a souvenir sheet associated with Montserrat's 1986 Haley's Comet, that looks like it was overprinted for Capex '87 in Toronto, there is this note:

MiNr. 677-680 gibt es auch Kleinbogen, die aus der Konkursmasse der Druckerei Format International Security Printers Ltd. stammen. Aus der gleichen Quelle stammen auch 8 nicht ausgegebene Marken zur Fußballweltmeisterschaft 1986.

Google Translate suggests:

Michel number. 677-680 there are also miniature sheet, from the bankrupt estate of the printing company Format International Security Printers Ltd. come. From the same source also 8 unissued stamps for the football world championship 1986 come.

re: MONSERRAT WORLD SOCCER CUP 1986 SET

Thanks for posting this - I collect Soccer & World Cup stamps.

I have had a frustrating run of cheering for Netherlands to win The Cup (starting in 1974 when they were favored). My high school girlfriend's dad was right off the boat from Haarlem and introduced me to soccer and jonge jenever martinis.

I was (overly) passionate about both until the last World Cup when I gave up drinking and cheering for Netherlands. I have been looking for a new team to jump to, and I believe Monserrat may be the one (although I think Montserrat has a better chance with expansion)...

Regardless, this was actually an interesting discussion!

Dave.
