The nature of the approval books is to try to offer a means to easily sell low-valued stamps. Selling damaged stamps in approval books is permitted, but frowned upon, since damaged common stamps have little to no value. Plus there are plenty of sound, low-valued stamps that could be sold instead.

In any event, in keeping with the "spirit" of selling through approval books, a minor rule change has been made and is now in effect. It will make it a little less cumbersome to list defective stamps being sold in approval books.

Here is the old rule:

"B5. Damaged stamps and the type of damage must be disclosed in the description. However, stamps with a catalog value less than $1.00 USD, may simply show "Damaged" in the description. (See also Auction Rule C8a.)"

Here is the new rule that is now in effect:

"B5. Stamps with defects must be identified by entering the word "Damaged" in the description. (See also Auction Rule C8a.)"

Sellers should note that stamps not so identified are considered to be in sound condition. Yet, why even clog up your approval books with damaged stamps? They do not sell well, and provide a poor presentation of the products that you are offering to sell. You will get better results (translated to mean "more money") selling sound stamps.
