Hi all,
LOL, I actually made up this name when I was into Model Rocketry a loooong time ago. I had never known that there was a restaurant by the same name!
Well, being a new stamp collector, the whole "world" of stamps is pretty new. The nice thing is, at the age of 50, I finally have a little money to spend on a hobby if I want to, and stamps appear to be as inexpensive or expensive as one wishes, as far as a hobby goes.
My interests run deeply into the back story of interesting stamps and probably topical collecting, which I had not really heard about until yesterday on this website. Did I mention I was a new collector!?
So my interests are anything from the 1930's, commemorative stamps, topical collecting of ships, flowers and insects, and general collecting of Germany/Great Britain and the world to some extent. Again the disclaimer, I'm new to stamps, so I kind of want to do it all at once!
I love how this hobby fits into my life, because I have VERY spotty hobby time, thus being able to pick something up and put it down quickly works well for me. Plus my wife and I really like history, so stamps are pretty interesting.
Anyway, enough about me... thanks everyone for the great welcome and I'm VERY pleased to be here and a part of this great group!

Thanks guys!
Welcome from Illinois!
Very cool Phil!
The company I work for is German and I have a lot of friends in Germany.
I have thought quite a bit about starting to collect German stamps too.
That could really expand my topical options. But for that matter branching into worldwide stamps would help me a lot. I haven't got there quite yet, still mess'in with US stamps at the moment.
JR
I'm in Grand Rapids. Are you anywhere close to me ?
Hi Sleepy,
I'm in Tecumseh.
So according to Google, we're 2 hours and 15 mins apart.
I'm quite South and a fair amount East.

Hi all,
I'm a brand new collector, and have only been collecting for about 4 weeks, but I have already jumped in to the hobby in a big way.
I have purchased a lot of stamps and a lot of supplies and have really been enjoying the hobby so far.
Thanks!
Johnny
