I just added 3 stamps I needed for my Venezuela collection, one of them being a key.
This leaves me with only 4 regular issue stamps before 1970 that I now need to complete.
The key stamp is the 1937 3 Bolivar stamp below, Scott No. 324.

I also noted with my new catalog that there was a big price change on a few stamps I have been searching for, for a long time. They are #'s 156 and 157 from a 1900 set. I had gotten the 25 center No. 158 earlier this year. No's 156 and 157 use to have a catalog value of $200.00 each but the new price on these is $750.00! The old price on N0.158 was $175.00 but is now listed at $600.00. The last two stamps in the set are of a minimal value of $1.00 and that has not changed. I cannot remember ever seeing 156 or 157 and have to wonder why the big price jump, and wonder if I will ever get my hands on them.

re: Venezuela New additions

Hey Antonius, glad to find you here! Still remember nice conversations from the Ebay Stamp Chat like 15 years ago... And I still have you listed as the fortunate owner of a mint copy of a Venezuela Sc67! (third escuelas series, 25 Bs)

I'm not a collector of these pieces so for what is worth, I've only seen Sc 156-158 like once or twice... many years ago... If my memory serves, they were all in a stockbook with a bunch of American Bank Note Proofs specimens in it. I've never seen a 156 or a 157 out of that context. I've seen a few 158s out there... but every one I've had in my hand, the overprint looked suspicious to me for one reason or another (particularly, the TR part of the zeros and/or 9... or the overprint mark can be seen from the back).

Again, I can be totally off on this, I'm not a specialized collector of these pieces.

Oh the old ebay chatboard...i was on it about one week...it seemed dominated by a handful of people who only spoke to one another. Thats ok,i found Stampoffers and then Stamporama where the regular folks seem to visit. Welcome Will, i will revisit my ESCUELAS, The Scott International Album does not do justice to them.

Hey Philb, I don't think you were wrong. Scott doesn't do any justice to the ESCUELAS stamps at all... they are by far the most interesting series in Venezuelan philately (ok, I might be a little biased here Happy )

Re: Chatboard... I can't complain, I think I was always treated with respect, always felt I was welcomed to speak up even with my then-even-more limited English, and learnt a lot... not to mention that I e-met great folks there.

Will, i agree the folks you meet on chatboards are great...back in 2003 i met some folks on the chatboard from Ottawa...they put us up sight unseen and we have been going up to the Orapex show every May for 15 years. Thats only one example..have met up with many others at APS shows or the Mega shows like Washington 2006 . i come accross people who are closet collectors..do not want people to know they collect...what fun can that be ?

re: Venezuela New additions

Hi Will, Glad you found us? It's indeed been a long time and I have missed your guidance
On the early stamps of Venezuela.
Thanks for showing the 1900 overprint specimens. I have never seen them either. I'm guessing that they are also very illusive. I pretty much consigned myself to thinking I will never get the 5 or 10 cent stamps thus keeping me from completing the country.
I'm very much looking forward in receiving your new book on the Escuelas. It will be nice to finally order the ones in my collection and "duplicates" as to the different printings.

Philb, I had to make pages for the Instruccions. I placed them under revenues and they can be seen in the second to last row, here:

There is also a set of 1893 in the regular section of Venezuela. I would guess that these would be in your international album.

re: Venezuela New additions

I recently received the stamp below Venezuela C78. This completes my airmail collection minus 2 stamps thru 1960.
