The rules for participating in the Approval Books sales platform have been officially formalized. Since many are probably already in the process of creating new approval books, the rules relating to the actual creation of the books will take effect with the posting of approval book number 11,250. All other rules are in effect at this time.

The Approval Books Rules page is basically comprised of three sections:

- rules
- information about the automatic book closure
- suggestions for better sales

The rules are basically the same as have been in effect since the approval books were implemented. Moderators will review approval books for compliance with the rules.

Some rules from the auctions are also applicable to approval books. These have been brought over to the approval books to synchronize with the auctions.

One new rule that came about from recent discussions in the Discussion Board involves selling damaged stamps in the approval books. Damaged stamps may be offered for sale in approval books, but under one condition:

"B5. Damaged stamps and the type of damage must be disclosed in the description. However, stamps with a catalog value less than $1.00 USD, may simply show "Damaged" in the description. (See also Auction Rule C8a)"

It only seems right to extend a courtesy to buyers to notify them that a stamp is damaged.

A couple of rules had language softened to give some leeway for sellers. The same holds true for sellers needing a waiver to post an approval book that does not meet the minimum item requirements. Make sure to contact the Auctioneer and that a waiver is granted BEFORE posting such an approval book. Your book may be closed if you do not.

The automated book closure process is a system procedure that happens automatically. This eliminates the need for sellers and moderators to keep track of books and taking action when a book needs to be closed.

The suggestions for selling are just that, suggestions. These are provided for sellers' information. They are not rules.
