Shouldn't this be shown under Asia rather than under Europe?

Asia it tis. The general consensus of modern geographers, regarding the Western border, is that anything to the East of the Ural Mts. and Ural river -- is Asia.

It is kind of interesting that one can stand on one side of the Ural river and be in Europe, and stand on the other and be in Asia. Lumping the two continents together as "Eurasia" is often the choice. But then you risk being incontinent.

New Guinea/Papua New Guinea is similarly perplexing as half the island is designated Asia and the other half Australia. Bottom line is some of the demarcations of continents are quite arbitrary -- you have to draw the line somewhere.

Cheers!

Wasn't there recent news of geologists proving that New Zealand has its own continent?

A quick look at the Zealandia claim. It's certainly an interesting claim - I like the analogy to the Pluto controversy - is it or isn't it. For me, I understand science's downgrading of poor old Pluto, but will always consider Clyde Tombaugh's discovery a planet.

If I ever get a geography class to teach again, this'll be a cool little thing to get the kiddies thinking.
