R shows registration error - bicolor print - 2 plates
I happened to find an example of this stamp selling on eBay over the weekend. Including postage, someone bought the pair shown below for $23.00 US. It has a more dramatic shift of the vignette than my stamp does, but this gives me an idea of the demand for Chinese "printer's waste," as Scott calls it. I guess they are worth more than the 25 cents minimum value in the Scott catalog.

These two stamps from my collection are China Scott #361 imperforate, acquired in a bulk lot of China stamps many years ago from a local Des Moines, Iowa stamp dealer. I thought the stamp on the right might be some kind of error, but the Scott catalog shot me down with this note that follows Scott #363... "Several values exist imperforate, but these were not regularly issued. No. 361 imperforate is printer's waste." Does anyone happen to know the story behind this stamp? Anyone have other examples? Anyone know the value of these?
If anyone can add to this thread, I would be interested in any additional information.
Thanks,
Linus
