I found a handful of these yesterday in different denominations. Example shown.

I saw some listed for sale online by ESJ van Dam, described as "Quebec Caisse Populaire Savings Stamps" under the major category "Revenue Stamps".

A stamp as per this example was listed for sale at US$5.86 - and they provided a catalog number (#QCP1) and catalog value ($12.50 - but not designated CA$ or US$).

I can't find a reference to the catalog they are quoting from.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Dave.

Thanks Roy.

To Roy and/or Moderators:

In the absence of having a hard copy of the catalog, would it be reasonable if/when selling to quote the online listing per the ESJ van Dam site I noted - maybe giving the URL as a further reference?

David, that would be fine, except if the reference is from an item that is being offered for sale, like a Hipstamp, or ebay listing. The reason for that is that the item may sell, and then the URL may no longer be any good. However, a URL from a stable philatelic reference web site is fine.

Dave,

i think anything that helps a potential buyer understand what s/he's looking at and how you came to ID and value it is good. your suggestions sounds fine, and Michael's cautionary note is on the, umm, money.

David & Michael:

Thanks. I am a believer in "the more info the better" to make good decisions in an imperfect world (subject of course to my congruent belief in Occam's Razor).

So even though it may not always be "Apples to Apples" - my approach is as long as there is full disclosure (e.g. "The reference listing provided is for MNH - but note that my offering is MH...) adults can make adult decisions.

Dave.
