I do volunteer for things in my local club. Although I deliberately chose not to identify the second group it is based in Canada. In both cases I suspect issues with postage, customs, etc got out of hand. In the latter case they want buyers to send payment by check in US funds by mail. It takes up to two weeks now for me to get mailings from Canada, this will mean up to a month getting any purchases. As a US resident I doubt I could help.
I realize you weren't suggesting I volunteer myself. Just offering additional detail.
For many reasons, it seems the days of societies offering their members venues to buy and sell are fast slipping away. Yesterday I got the quarterly magazine from the Scandinavian Collectors Club and saw a notice that the sales exchange was being ended for members in Canada.
I belong to another country specialist society and have chosen to discontinue using their sales service. They stopped accepting Paypal, for one reason. The gentleman running it is up in years and keeps failing to update their listings to reflect sales. It just happened again recently and I just told them their service doesn't meet my needs any longer.
There is still the APS books and internet service. Things change and not often for the better but that's the way it is.
