In my pursuit of Ben Franklins, one of the tougher ones is the Canal Zone 3 overprint. It was produced in limited quantities. It was issued in 1904 and saw very limited use. I have yet to find a cover or card with nice usage. And I've been looking a long time.

I managed to purchase this set of four, cancelled on piece this week. I think I got a decent deal. I was surprised there were no other bidders. This appears to be a cover that someone cut up from a group of covers that were cancelled for collectors in 1904.

No I don't own this one, but I've seen a couple of like covers, some on different color envelopes. I believe my piece was one of these. There are two of these on eBay, a cover for $500 and a front for $300. Chatting with Len (Smaugie)he said there was some controversy as to their authenticity. Still, I'm glad to have what I bought for a small fraction of this price.

The other territory I am still looking for on cover is Guam.
