Yes. Our Post Office branch had them. I did not buy them because they were very dark... LOL
I am interested in ART postage stamps.

The latest Postal bulletin has about 75 pictorial cancels for the eclipse that were used. You have 30 days to get them. Some were late in publicizing and were given extensions.
Linn's Stamp News posted an article about the Solar Eclipse stamps and details about the thermochromic ink. They did an informal study where they kep one stamp in a dark, temperature controlled environment, another on a card under a fluorescent light, and another on a card in a car for 4 weeks.
They compared appearance and ability to change colors after the 4 weeks was over. The controlled environment stamp looked the same as new and still changed color, the other two had obvious changes in appearance and less reaction to temperature changes.
They also printed information about how the ink is made, what causes it to change colors, and the temperature at which the color change begins.
Interesting and worth reading.
At the moment, it it the first thing that pops up when you go to Linn's.com. Don't even need a subscription to see it.
Thank you for the link smaier!
Oh great.
I guess now Scott will have a something beyond MNH, Mint and Used. Perhaps we will now see Unheated or Unlit?

The shipment announced by Karen has arrived. Nice ending!! Michel
The problem with the stamp is that that is not how the sun looks from earth. The image looks like it was taken from a rogue asteroid with a solar orbit tilted 30 degrees from that of earth.
According to USPS, the image used for the stamp is from an actual picture of a previous solar eclipse. I don't recall which one.
This is my favorite image (NASA, time lapse).

"The stamp uses a photograph taken by astrophysicist Fred Espenak of a total solar eclipse that was seen over Jalu, Libya, on March 29, 2006. Mr. Espenak also took the photograph of the full moon that is revealed by pressing upon the stamp image."
I went to the post office today to mail an envelope to a fellow collector, and they had solar eclipse postage stamps. They are really nice. Did they have these at any other places where you are?
They had a special hand cancellation too. It was really cool.
