Is it me or does the upper right corner of thr stamp with missing value look "roughed up"?

Ernie is correct.

Notice the missing corner of the blue background square at upper right.

This appears to be just a damaged copy.

Yep, the corner has definitely been damaged ,even taken out some of the blue sky .It can happen when they go through the machinery in the post office sorting depot.
