Here is a question for you:

- What country issued the first ever airmail coil stamp?

- I know that the US issued their first coil stamp in 1948 (Scott C37). But...was it the first ever?

If anyone knows please enlighten me. Thanks

re: First Airmail Coil Stamp in the World?

Sweden was at least 18 years earlier (C6/C7).
May I ask what is the significance of this? Perhaps just a bit of stamptrivia?

re: First Airmail Coil Stamp in the World?

I am a specialized collector of various issues of US airmail. At the present time I am preparing an exhibit on the US Nickel Airmail Rate Era: 1946-48. During this rate period the United States introduced its first airmail coil stamp. I was simply trying to determine if it was first ever or just first by the US. Also of course a little trivia question like this is always stimulating.

Thanks so very much for your info.
