Gibbons states that the 8 cent and a 15 cent stamp were prepared for the Malayan Union, but were not issued. The 8 cent came into collector hands from "unofficial leakages". Gibbons 2012 values it at 450 GBP unused.
I am wondering if anyone out there actually owns the 1946 "Malayan Union Peace Issue" (an 8-cent stamps that was part of the Peace Issue omnibus)?
I don't believe that Scott or Stanley Gibbons recognizes or catalogues this issue, though Minkus did. I find a listing for this issue in an 1970s Minkus' British Commonwealth catalogue as #N-379.
I've seen a picture of the stamp (see the image I uploaded), but I never saw the real thing at any of the stamp shows I have been to. I am wondering if anyone else has laid eyes upon this piece of rare philately and am also wondering how rare this item is. Are there any still around, are there more than a few copies around -- and how valuable/expensive would it be to get one to complete by Peace Issue collection?
