I bought a set of this issue recently at a show. I use Schaubek albums and am now having the old problem of trying to make a set purchased under Scott numbers fit into an album based on Michel.

I did pretty good but after sorting them all out I have an empty space for a '15 pf carmine. ' I find no such animal listed in Scott and wonder if this is some variety not listed there but in Michel. I had to place a lot of the stamps I got in this set in spaces marked for other denominations and colors I couldn't seem to be able to match up with Scott.

I have run into this on occasion with Schaubek. On long sets they seem to get the printed information wrong as to color and value.

any idea what stamp in Scott # is supposed to go in this space?

Scott only recognizes the brown color.

Michel states that number 57b (is what I believe you are looking at) under the Allied Occupation stamp listings is dark brown carmine. Evidently Scott doesn't believe the color difference warrants a separate listing for the standard catalog.

OK that solves the mystery. Thanks.

I will need to keep checking stamps2Go for someone selling a single stamp with that shade to fill the space.

FYI, this won't apply to this set, but on page 11 of the June 5, 2017, issue of Linn's, there is an ad for German stamps from 1924-1945 by Henry Gitner in which he has a cross-reference of Scott and Michel catalog numbers. Might be worth keeping an eye on his ads to get those cross references, if he continues to do this.

Thanks.. Back when Richard Pyznar was still alive and active he used to send out lists with both Scott and Michel #s. His prices were very high but it was worth buying something once in awhile to get those lists. I may still have some. Will look for the Gitner ad.

As I mentioned, Schaubek has what appear to be number of misprints on their pages. On this series they listed some in colors and denominations that do not exist I noted this earlier on some other pages, usually on long series of older stamps. Like someone got in a hurry to finish up getting the page ready for the printer. I wound up just ignoring what was in the printed space and arranging them by denomination.
