David, I receive mail from Canada al the time, and the stamps are rarely canceled too. The one envelope I received recently had the stamps canceled with a Sharpie. I posted an image of that one.
I'm sure I can get the clerks at my post office to cancel the stamps for me if you want to send them to me. You could always do what Canada Post did to me, and use a Sharpie!
I collect used U.S.A. I have a 43 volume collection. USA and Costa Rica are my two big passions for stamp collecting. I completely relax when working on either collection.
Sometimes the mail I receive from the United States has stamps that do not get cancelled. I send them down to my buddy, Phil Bruno, and he gets the local postal clerk to cancel them for me. His postal people don't like doing too many, and I'd hate to impose upon him.
To-day I was at Sparks Auctions (I am the principal Auctioneer) and was calling the auction. I'm doing the same tomorrow. At lunch, I get to go through all the mail and take what I want. They save all the US covers for me. I scored some great used U.S.A. Here is the problem. A bunch of it is uncancelled. I was hoping someone in the United States has a friendly postal clerk that would not mind cancelling a few dozen items for me.
I'd mail them down (they are all on piece) and send along mint return postage, cash, to pay for your time, gas, etc.
If you can help me out, please PM me.
Thanks a bunch!
