"I wonder how much philatelic mail has gone missing because a dealer has his business name on the return address?"
Guess what ,the missing stamp turned up in today's mail ,five weeks after it was posted. I am just waiting on an email from the seller so I can send his refund back!!!!!.There was only a return address ,no business name on the cover.
Also in the mail was my membership card and magazine from the APS with their nice zazzle stamp as part of the postage.
All's well that ends well.

But it wouldn't have arrived if you didn't post about it!
"...five weeks after it was posted."
I had a similar problem from the UK to Australia, as well. I ordered two different packages from the same seller about three weeks apart. The later one arrived first and the earlier appeared to be in limbo. The one ordered earlier did arrive eventually. Both packages had been opened by Australian Customs and inspected. Neither package was registered or had tracking. The delay could have occured anywhere in transit. It would be nice to know where.
Was there a Customs label on the package. It can be a "giveaway" because the goods must be described and the value has to be written on it.
If the package has no Customs label on it then U.S. Customs may hold the package for investigation, especially if the package contains a small polythene bag. (they may think it is drugs)
$16.00 for shipping seems a bit expensive.
My two letter sized parcels had been opened and a slip of paper inserted that explained the need to check items by Customs and that nothing had been removed. The one that came a lot slower also had a big green sticker applied to the outside of the envelope stating "Opened by Austrlaia Post for Inspection by Customs". I can't recall whether the letter that arrived first also had the same green sticker.
I purchased a lot from a stamp dealer in the UK.As it had not arrived in the estimated time ,I sent the seller a message informing him of the fact.
He asked me to wait a while ,which I did and still nothing. This item was sent registered and sign for,but the tracking was only in the UK.You can get international tracking which tracks from door to door, but it appears $16-00 postage didn't cover this.
I did a claim and was reimbursed my Nearly $100-00.
I sent the seller a message when I did the claim asking him if his business name was included in the return address.A dead give away with registered mail that the cover contains some thing of value and is worth taking.
I wonder how much philatelic mail has gone missing because a dealer has his business name on the return address??especially if the cover is registered.
