I've been away from the New Jersey cover thing almost 6 weeks! People actually messaged me asking what was up! My life went on the usual spring overload. I run a model car show the 4th Saturday in April, so most of my time from January through April gets devoted to this activity. I still haven't finished all the post show stuff!

Some may recall that I was playing with creating cachets on my printer from old uncacheted First Day of Issue postal stationary. That got me going in this direction..

Those following my silly activities may remember the Milltown, NJ cover that I got cancelled on my way through in February. And you may recall I had no problem at all with the postal personnel. It is kind of a plain cover.

I saw this neat old chopper across the street from the post office and snapped this shot, which I used for my illustration when I introduced the above cover to our audience... then I got thinking, why not combine the two?

Which gives me this beauty! I crossed my fingers as I put this one of a kind cover through the printer. Okay, it wasn't valuable, I just didn't want to have to go back there to get another one cancelled. But it turned out how I wanted!

So what do you think? When I service modern covers should I jazz them up a bit? I wouldn't do this for older and commercially used covers in the New Jersey Collection. Thoughts?

And a bonus for anyone who stuck through this post... a Milltown postcard I recently got in a lot. Can't read the date, but the message on the reverse is dated 1943. I wouldn't have bought it individually since first, I try not to buy covers from towns I already have (unless it's spectacular!) and the cancel isn't the greatest. But it's in the binder for now!
