Just a freak.
An error is mistake made during the printing process that is consistent through the print run like a missing color, no perfs, etc., or on just part of the print run, such as part of the design printed inverted to the rest (inverted Jenny) on just one (known) pane.
A freak it is. It oughta feel right at home hangin' 'round me then.

Just came across this one while sorting through a few stamps from France. There's over inking in the lettering, rooftops and windows, but it also appears the "T" in "POSTES" is shifted a bit. Would this be classified as an error, or just an oddity?
