Just was doing some reading on the use of pigeons for the delivery of messages and mail. Do we have any members who collect this type of postal history? Can anyone add to the information?
New Zealand and Herm Island issued cinderella stamps used during the mail delivery. In Canada pigeons carried messages from Halifax to Sable Island..Lighthouses and the mainland were often connected by this service. But I`m not aware of stamps being involved.

re: Pigeon Post

I have this Herm Island stamp not canceled on a small holed envelop that would have been tied to the bird's leg.
