Simply not an attractive item.
I call it "store fodder". Stupidly priced items that help maintain an inventory that meets Ebay's requirements. A lot of sellers stores will keep listing the same way over priced items for that purpose. If it happens to sell, so much the better.

Argh! This cover got relisted AGAIN. It showed up in one of the searches that eBay dutifully mails me. This one has been on eBay something like three years for $40. I swear, eBay is like the luggage carousel at the airport. The bags that don't get claimed just go round and round!
Maybe I should take up a collection to buy it and destroy it for the betterment of the hobby?
Perhaps the seller thinks its a "fancy" cancel.
What do you see in that ink blot? I see an arm and someone giving me the finger, the wrong finger, like the Invaders' little finger (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Invaders).
Well that took me back, my Aunt worked at Ludlow Typographic in the same block on Elston Ave for many years, I haven't thought about that area since the 1960's. We lived at 1810 N. Burling St. she walked to work even in the winter.BRRRRRRRR
In a weird sort of way, you've got to admire the sticktoittivness.(a new word or just bad spelling?) He wants his price and he won't go a penny lower. That's commitment!
It's back again! Argh! And every time it gets relisted, eBay feels they have to tell me about it!
That's too funny! That thang is U-G-L-Y.

Stuff like this just makes me wonder! There is a whole group of these on eBay pretty consistently for at least the last 6 months. They look like they were stamped reply envelopes that never got used. No value at all. Still this person thinks they have high ticket items here! I hate having to wade though this stuff in the cover category!
That's just redonkulous.
As an observation, there were several lots of "rare" US, stamps and covers, offered at ridiculous starting bids here on SOR a while back. At least in the big e there is usually a listing charge even if it doesn't sell.

Chris there's one other trick they use "Shill Bidders" to drive the price UP..when I was a seller on estinks I was approached on several occasions to consider a bid with the understanding that the original bidder had a proxy bid in place. When I reported it to estinks I was ignored. Thats why I stopped selling there.
Happy Anniversary to this awful cover! Yes, it is an Alvin Filstrup / Covel Mfg cover (stamp royalty!) BUT it's been on eBay for frickin years, owner asking $40 and it hasn't sold. Any clues, clueless seller? I've bought similar covers without the huge ink blot for less than $10.
The other day when I did my search for New Jersey covers, I did it by my usual "Ending Soonest" and them by "Cheapest First". I realized that I had already seen all of these covers. So I tried "Newly Listed" and it was the same awful covers going through yet another rotation through the system.
It seems the eBay cover category is like the luggage carousel at the airport, going round and round!
