Cheryl,
not for themselves, but Christmas FL and Santa Claus IN are often sites of seal FDs, and are often used to get seal cancels. It's for the seal, though, not the cancel (although I want it tying the seal) that I collect them.

I have a few cards like this in my collection. Mailed Christmas eve, Received Christmas day. Think about how few of these exist today!
I received a Christmas letter today. The cancellation was "Seasons Greetings" but as is evident in the scan, the slogan cancel obliterated the stamps, and the slogan itself is a blurry mess. Oh for the use of a clean round hammer!
Perhaps some who have connections could persuade the postal authorities to reverse the date marking and the slogan on the cancelling machines, so that the date marking would cancel the stamps. It would certainly increase the likelihood of finding dated if not CDS cancels on single stamps!

Hi - new to this forum. I received a card yesterday and the Royal Mail usually does something for the season.

I was looking at several of those USPS holiday smears the other day and thinking the same. My bro-in-law works for USPS in one of those sorting centers and said that those ink jet cancel machines are difficult to keep clean and nobody wants to be the guy who cleans it!
And don't forget to watch your Christmas mail for the machine vending Christmas stamp! I think those will be hard to find on cover in the future.
I have been saving most of the Christmas stamps from our cards this year. And yes what a mess with the cancelations. They almost cover the whole stamp with ink. Such a disappointment.
I just collect postmarks generally, but here is a cover with Christmas Island, Nova Scotia:
And just the postmark:
Send a stamped self addressed envelope to this address requesting their special Christmas postmark. and see what is returned to you...Canada Post has an interesting article about the unique post office Google Christmas Island Canada post office

An item that was in Dad's small postal history collection. I have no idea where he got it, but probably at a local estate sale in the 1950s or 1960s.
Here's one I just found when sorting through a box of covers this morning! Christmas Day 1932
I don't have this cover physically but when I was trolling eBay for postmarks it popped up and I stole the photo. Christmas day 1944.
It could be an interesting collection to collect Christmas day from every year. Probably possible to get too!
I have a nice little collection of Austria's Christkindl covers. Always liked 'em, not sure why.
Does any one collect postmarks with Christmas related themes. .example North Pole New York, Christmas Island NS etc?
