Are you using the old or new Delcampe site?
I've just done a few specific searches (by SG number) and this worked fine on the OLD site, which at the moment is still available.
I have read a lot of criticism of the new site but nothing about searches.
I've tried both sites and with Scott and SG and just numbers. Think it is really probably down to sellers not itemizing in a logical or correct manner. Though still do not understand why I get the stupid listings at the top, unless it is some method of advertising by Delcampe itself.
It seems not to have a search within results, but maybe I'm missing something.
Most of the sellers have been prompt in their responses to me, but when they decline to use the in-house payment system, there are problems. I have had two sellers who have taken the money and run, and the Delcampe mediation process has had no effect. I suspect they are both quite large-scale dealers who cannot be arsed to admit that the item I wanted had been sold long since but not taken down from the website.
The effect of the 'new' website has yet to make itself felt here, as I haven't ordered anything up since the last dealer (an Italian who goes under the name 'migliorecollezione') failed to send a stamp for which I have paid.
Come to think of it, the system of pseudonyms is a pain, since when you receive the item it always comes from a real name and you have to match it up with some silly nickname. I suppose there's a reason for it, but it's a nuisance.
My experience of Delcampe's chasing up service was good - the lady had to send two emails to the laggardly seller (Gudgeonsme, a bloke called Gary Powell) threatening to strike him off their list, but it worked. He lumbered into life, sent an apologetic email and the stamps - all there and good - arrived a few days later.
No problems at all with Delcampe. Searching is OK, no better or worse than other online auctions and there are some great buyers and sellers.
Only good experiences from my end.

Just like any other sites. There are going to be good sellers and some not so good. I buy on occasion from Delcampe. I have only one problem. I never received a stamp from a dealer in Poland. He basically told me that he didn't want to hear about my problem. I have also dealt with some excellent dealers. I much preferred the searching in the old website over the new site.
I have had only two problems with Delcampe dealers in ten years. The old site worked like a charm with either Michel or Y&T #.
I hate the new system, it has all the traps of eBay!
Sorry delcampe is a store room for fake stamps, by the truck load, and it's hard to chase your money in Vietnam sitting in California. I'll stick with the fee bay. They have sharks as REPO men. You'll get your money or your stamps..
Is it just me or does everyone have trouble trying to find anything on Delcampe.
I try SG or Scott numbers. The filter system seems useless and the items returned always include half a dozen things totally unrelated to my search.
Maybe it is the sellers who are not putting correct descriptions? But It really seems such a hassle that I feel like giving up before I start.
On the 6th. Oct I tried to purchase from Postlynx and am still waiting on an invoice. Contacting them had no response so contacted Delcampe on 27th. Oct and got a reply to say they will contact me, to date absolutely nothing.
If no word by end of month they will be considered useless and the site deleted from my searches. I'm sure the other sites I purchase from will happily accept more money.
