John,
Very nice newsletter - thanks for the heads-up!
I especially liked the articles on Ekko stamps and the Cinderellas.

I got an e-mail about this and followed it up, the actual magazine is extremely well done, it really looks professional.
The Stamp Forum has issued its second newsletter.
Yes I received mine too. Extremely well put together, very professional indeed.
It is very well done. I'm surprised though to see some of the writers who volunteered to write for it but not the Rambler. Not trying to be bitter about anything, it's just a thought of curiosity of the members who are in both groups but chose only to write for TSF.
(I am a member of both groups)
Thank you Kelly,
I have to concur with your sentiments. I've put out a call for volunteers and have been met with the deafening sound of silence. I reached out to a long standing member who was involved in the very first Rambler issues way back when and asked if he'd be willing to contribute and the guy didn't even have the decency to respond. Nothing. The guy is fairly active on the DB, posts long thought-out posts and has a website or two. I learned more about his character that day than I did about publishing a club newsletter. In order for the newsletter to be even remotely worthwhile you have to have member participation. To have something worth putting out there you really need to have a minimum of four decent member submitted articles. Less than that and its a bit of a joke. I'm not mad at anyone. I get it, but if no one wants to contribute I think I'd rather let someone else give it a shot.
P.S. Kelly Fleming richly deserves a heart felt thank you for the effort that she's put into the newsletter.
@ tomiseksj,
Congratulations on the TSF newsletter. Very well done. Love the layout, content and the presentation. I like the way that you make it available in three different formats. You guys did a great job.
Ernie
Thanks, Ernie.
Our editor, Nelson (@falschung) deserves all of the credit.
All I do is collect submissions from the members, pass the materials on to Nelson for him to work his magic, upload the links he gives me to a read-only thread on the forum, and then send the broadcast email that announces their availability.
To clarify - my comment meant no criticism towards any member. I have been very blessed to have had some fantastic writers submit articles (long or short) for the Rambler.
My thought was more in line of - what can WE do, to encourage more members to submit articles? I don't anticipate or desire any competition between the two groups - we are totally different groups, with as I mentioned, members in both groups - myself included.
You need not be a "writer" to submit an article, as I've said many times over the years, simply a page from your album that has a write-up would be an excellent contribution.
TSF did a fantastic job of both of their newsletters. Very nicely done, indeed.
So again - not meant as criticism or competition, just an inquiry as to how I may have pursued things differently to encourage contributions for the Rambler and a big thank you to everyone who has contributed and hopefully will continue to do so in the future.
The current issue of The Stamp Forum's newsletter is now available.
Kudos to all who submitted material and collaborated on the publication!
It's a beautiful issue. Lots of variety; something for everyone. Loved the beaver varieties... Keep up the excellent work!

What Ernie said !

"Al Gore" you are already famous
I have my first attempt at philatelic writing in this edition, it was a good learning experience

Kudos for another great edition of the TSF newsletter. Super impressed by the effort. Very well put together. Very ambitious. Have you all started an index of topics covered?
"Have you all started an index of topics covered?"
I think it would be cool to have a searchable index by key word and be able to pull up a body of work.
"I think it would be cool to have a searchable index by key word and be able to pull up a body of work."
I built an Index for the 3 existing TSF newsletters and am happy to share this with other folks. It does require you to have all the newsletters downloaded to your computer and to copy the index files to the same folder.
The beauty to this index is that it includes every word in all the Newsletters, is linked to instantly take you to the word you searched on, and supports complex searches if desired.
The index will need to be updated each time a new Newsletter is released but this simply means downloading and copying the index files. I have tested this with Adobe Reader but it should work with other PDF readers as long as they meet the PDF ISO 32000-1 standard.

Steve, I love it! When you read through the list by subject you can see that there is quite a diverse body of work that has been created. You guys are doing some great work!

Ernie,
Thanks. We've got some members with expertise in a number of areas that we've leaned upon heavily. With luck, we'll get more of the membership to feel comfortable making contributions.
