With Rob's Font difference and the specimens etc. -- further research suggests that there are about 12 of these little suckers..

Thanks Stevo, you literally saved me a lot of typing in responding to musicman's above response, great research. There are 9 to the complete set; and 3 red trial overprints and 1 gold overprint.
The image shown is what I have in my collection (not counting many other varieties I have in various blocks some consist of 16 to 20 stamps).
The red and gold overprints were from the original 1946 proof overprints and are very scarce, very hard to find and very expensive.
The set of 9 cost me $525, the trial red cost $500 on its own.
Here they are from my collection all in mint unhinged condition.
Hopefully the other trials will become available so I can complete the set of colour trials.
