Sounds like something we ALL would love to find/win/buy!
I attended a Stamp/Coin/Postcard/Medal auction this morning and looked at one of the best lots I have physically seen in my 63 years.
On the outside it was a tatty Folder with old brown home made albums inside.
The Number of old classic stamps within was a joy to behold.
The USA section had all the 1861 Stamps, The 5c Blue Newspaper stamp from 1865, a host of Mint Official Stamps, up to $2 Columbian Exposition, the 20c green Confederate of 1863.
The China/Shanghai pages were sheer bliss. Other ranges were from Brazil (Bullseyes), Peru, Argentina, Japan(a couple of Dragons), Hawaii (mint 1882-90), Korea, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and a host of other countries.
This lot was estimated at £20 - £30. (The Auction Company are quite stupid and their Buyers Commission at 22.5% + VAT is expensive).
Unfortunately I was outbid, but some one got a real bargain at £200.
However I was still pleased that I had time to view such a magnificent collection.
