I just completed a seven part series on the Stamps of the French Mandate Area for Syria and Lebanon, which is printed under Middle East Discussion, but can be accessed by clicking on the following links. This post is for reference purposes.

Here is the table of contents:

Part 1 summarizes the historical context and looks at stamps of Ile Rouad (pre French Mandate).
Part 2 looks at the Syrian Arabian Government of 1918-1920 (pre French Mandate).
Part 3 looks at Cilicia (the Armenian part of S. Turkey) (pre French Mandate).
Part 4 looks at the Alaouites area (under French Mandate).
Part 5 looks at Latakia (under French Mandate).
Part 6 looks at Alexandretta (under French Mandate)
Part 7 looks at Hatay (under French-Turkish Mandate)

Stamps of Lebanon and Syria, issued under the French Mandates will NOT be covered in this series. They tend to be collected as part of the individual countries collections, and could be the subject of another research study...should there be some interest.

Here are the links to the seven part series on the stamps of the French Mandate Territories

7.HATAY https://stamporama.com/discboard/disc_main.php?action=20&id=15379#115573

If there is interest, I plan to issue in the future a similar series on the Stamps of the British Mandate Territories in the Middle east, which will include Palestine, Transjordan(Jordan), Mesopotamia(Iraq), Hejaz & Nejd(Saudi Arabia), Yemen, as well as Aden.

rrr....

An additional section was added at a later time. I have updated the list above 7/17/19) to include it here, in one reference document.

An additional chapter has just been issued: Stamps of the French Mandate Area for Syria and Lebanon, Part 8. FREE FRENCH FORCES (FFF).

This is an additional chapter, related to the series published earlier, but covering an interesting WW2 related philatelic series of stamps. Free french Forces took over the area from the Vichi government and a series of Military stamps were issued and used between 1941 and 1946.
